Cheap DEWALT DW908 18-Volt NiCad Pivoting Head Cordless Flashlight, No Battery

I just purchased this light today. Wow is it bright. I also have a Brinkman Q Beam Max Million rechargable 1,000,000 candlepower spot light that is cumbersome and weighs a ton, which I compared to the DeWalt DW908 this evening. I thought the Brinkman was really bright, but the DW908 is quite a bit brighter, and lights up a larger area. It's more like a floodlight than it is a flashlight. Also comes with storage for an extra bulb. Great product!Get more detail about DEWALT DW908 18-Volt NiCad Pivoting Head Cordless Flashlight, No Battery.

Buying Grizzly H7583 Tenoning Jig

I purchased this tenoning jig after some research. Knowing I was going to need to cut some tenons I borrowed a friend's Delta tenoning jig. It seemed like a nice, heavy, well-made jig, but it did not fit my Craftsman table saw miter slot. (I have an early 80's Craftsman table saw; it has a 10" blade, belt drive, left tilt, with a cast iron top and cast iron wings.) Although my friend lent me his jig, he did not give me permission to sand his miter bar to fit my saw. I decided that I needed to buy my own brand new jig and sand down its miter bar to fit my saw. I returned my friend's jig and looked for the best price to buy a new Delta jig. While searching I saw this Grizzly jig advertised alongside the Delta, but with a price of only $59. It looked identical to the Delta; the castings looked identical as did its hardware. I ordered one. It came by UPS today. I unpacked it and set it up on my saw. To use the miter bar in my saw, I had to take off the t-slot rollers. This was an easy job. To remove these rollers, one simply removes the allen bolts that hold them in. After this, I fit the miter bar into my slot with no problem. I did not have to machine or sand it, it fit into my miter slot right out of the box. If slop exists, Grizzly built two allen-key adjustable bolts in the miter bar to remove it. I would also like to mention that the instructions were easy to follow and that the jig was well packed and, although it was coated in cosmoline, it was easy to remove with one rag and some solvent. The jig also comes with its own allen wrenches and is simple to put together. The jig has two sets of holes to mount the miter bar. One set of holes will place the jig closer to the saws blade than the other set of holes. I recommend this product.

Order INCRA Miter1000/HD Miter Gauge

I bought this on sale at $120 which was less than the cost of the lesser equipped 1000SE or buying the miter gauge and fence separately (as suggested by another buyer). While not free, I consider this money well spent if you're like me and do a lot of work that requires precise length and angles. In the past I've always had to cut all the pieces slightly over length and then tweaked them in with a miter trimmer...a technique that works but isn't fast (they're also not giving miter trimmers away). This gauge lets you set up and cut things dead on the first time. Use a quality blade and install a sub-fence per the instructions and the results are neat and ready to glue up in a single pass.

As previous raters have mentioned, everything was set accurately right out of the box. In what seems to be a rare exception these days, the instructions are clear and well illustrated in full color. It was easy to assemble and adjust to my Ridgid table saw. I also like that the kit included all the allen keys, extra measuring tape if you want to set up for use on the right side of the blade, and even the hardware to mount a zero clearance sub-fence.

While I probably wouldn't recommend spending over a hundred bucks if all you're going to be doing is cutting 2x4s to build a picnic table, if you are looking for something that produces highly accurate, repeatable cuts, and is easy to use then you won't be disappointed with this one.Get more detail about INCRA Miter1000/HD Miter Gauge.

Fein 63502134025 2-1/2-Inch Standard E-Cut Blade, 3-Pack

The Fein Multimaster is a great product - I use it constantly in my work as a handyman/rehab specialist.
With the variety of blades available, there is always a way to make the cut I need to accomplish.
My only complaint of the whole system is the cost of the blades. When compared to other tools/saws I use in my work, (Milwaukee reciprocating, Roto-Zip, hand tools etc), I will only use the MultiMaster when nothing else will accomplish the task - all because of the cost of the blades.

Neiko 80-Piece Premium-Grade 1/2" Tungsten Carbide Router Bit Set - 3 and 2 Blade - Aluminum Case Review

If you are looking for the best router bits money can buy -- keep looking. However I've found those bits work well for my projects and you can not beat the price. If in the future I'll need a specific bit that is of the highest quality I'll buy it, but for now I'm very pleased with my purchase. Aluminum case is a bit flimsy, but it should be easy to build a box for the bit storage with no problems once the case falls apart -- so not a problem in my mind. This pouch holds just enough tools, though the older model was made of sturdier material. I order two at a time because they do wear out in daily use. 5 of 9 electricians on my job use them. Other pouches I've owned were too big or too small. Some were bulky and leather and didn't wear out much, except at the joints. This one is reasonably priced and adequately sized.

Save Freud D0740X Diablo 7-1/4 40 Tooth ATB Finishing Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor, Diamond Knockout, and PermaShield Coating

After reading several other reviews I thought this information would be helpful.

Some users report short-life from this blade. That may be true under certain circumstances, but it usually isn't the blade's fault. Here's how you can get cleaner, safer, smoother cuts and MUCH more life from this or any other good blade.

1- Keep it clean. "pitch" --- that gummy residue from wood--- increases friction and heat. There are several products marketed specifically for keeping blades clean. They work fine, but I have found that no product works better than rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is inexpensive and widely available at any pharmacy. I will assume anyone reading this is careful enough to UNPLUG THE SAW before cleaning the blade or making any other adjustment.

2- Material considerations... Cutting plywood is tough on any blade because plywood has multiple layers of glue. Glue heats up and gets sticky FAST. Long rips and multiple rips make the blade hot anyway, and a hot blade melts glue faster than a cool blade. So just be aware, ANY BLADE from any manufacturer will wear faster in plywood.

3- Lubrication... You can minimize friction with a light coat of paste-wax or paraffin. You don't need to be perfectly even in the application of either. A quick dab of wax or a few strokes with the paraffin stick will quickly spread itself in about one-second into the first cut. Lube both sides of the blade roughly equally to reduce warping, and don't forget to lube the teeth. Once you make the first cut, the wax or paraffin will spread evenly everywhere and the excess will disappear.

Again... please UNPLUG THE SAW when you lubricate the blade. I have seen some pros turn their saws upside down and hold a paraffin stick against the running blade. It makes me cringe to think what might happen. The fact is all pros know the value of lubricating cutting tools, but most of us are not in that big of a hurry. Take your time and unplug the saw. A trip to the emergency room costs time, money and pain.

4- Cut Straight! Wandering cuts cause excess friction, heat and wear. Free-hand cutting is a skill that requires concentration and practice to achieve good technique. Using a straight-edge saw-guide is easier and works for novices and pros alike. Whenever I hear someone complain about their saw-blades getting dull too fast, I look at how they use the saw. The problem is most-often the user, not the blade. You do NOT need an expensive saw-guide, although many of them work well. A cheap straight edge can be quickly made ( in about ten minutes ) from ANY board with a straight factory-cut edge and a piece of scrap plywood.

This blade ( and other blades like it from Freud) have a slippery coating designed to reduce wear, but I have found that even these good blades work better and last longer with frequent lubrication.

I have used this blade and other Freud edge-tool products for decades and never experienced premature wear. Their products are consistent and very well-made. Considering the low price, I consider them to be a great value too. This 40-tooth model makes smooth cuts, especially when you use the tips presented here.

IF you want joinery-quality cuts from this blade, you can get them. You just need to install an abrasive sheet ( sandpaper ) to the sides. You can buy the commercially made round sheets for this, (they ARE convenient!) or make your own. I cut mine from cheap 180 grit aluminum-oxide sheets, using a compass and an X-acto knife, then attach them with 3M super 77 spray adhesive. This is about one-tenth the cost of commercial products like "Final-Cut."

For clean-straight cuts, you must be certain that your saw-blade is parallel to the cutting-guide and that it is at a perfect 90 degrees to the work. DeWalt, and Bosch saws have adjustments for that. Most saws do not. Even if you have a cheap saw, you can make the blade run parallel to the cutting-guide by shimming the edges with UHMW tape. Setting the blade perpendicular to the work can be adjusted similarly by shimming the base-plate. You can do both adjustments roughly with a decent square, or you can get them "dead" perfect with a dial indicator. I get the best results with a dial indicator and the TS aligner. <<< (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)

Please do not take my comments as negative towards the other reviewers who have expressed their problems with this blade. They are not necessarily "wrong." Nor am I trying to seem like a "know-it-all." Many professionals use these tricks and tips. I simply want to help.

I know from long experience that this is a good blade at a reasonable price. The carbide is of high-quality and the manufacturing method insures consistent sharp edges.

If any saw works well for the first few cuts, it should continue to cut well unless the person using the saw ignores some basic rules of physics and technique. If someone experiences premature wear, it could be caused by the material, the method or the imperfect adjustment of their saw. Consider these facts when choosing and using your blades.

Try this blade and the cheap tips I suggested. You should get good results. Even if you don't, you won't lose much money or time. I won't ask that anyone simply believe me... just try it. See for yourself.Get more detail about Freud D0740X Diablo 7-1/4 40 Tooth ATB Finishing Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor, Diamond Knockout, and PermaShield Coating.

I've read reviews that people have purchased this item for $3 on Amazon. I paid $4 on Ebay, and it's worth every penny. Cheapest Porter-Cable 13904 5-Inch Hook and Loop Pad (for Model 333 Sander)

The sander is still in great shape, but I can't believe this pad is already worn out. I have the same problem as a lot of the reviewers. The screw holes wore through. I also can't believe that I am going to have to pay twenty bucks to fix a problem that I shouldn't be having this soon. The hook an loop part is still just fine. I am a cabinet maker, and I am used to the pads wearing out on the sanders at work, but never in this manner. I've had the hook and loop wear out which is expected. I've also had the hook and loop separate from the foam pad which happens at about the same time as the hook and loop wears out, so it is also no big deal. I wouldn't buy this sander if I had it to do over again. Get more detail about Porter-Cable 13904 5-Inch Hook and Loop Pad (for Model 333 Sander).

Buying Shop-Vac 905-85-1 Foam Filter Sleeves

Never received anything so fast in my life. Ace is the place, as they say. When a friend moved ten years ago he gave me his fairly used Shop Vac. No instructions for this now antique model 500A. But I used it to drain my fish pond every few weeks, clean up my shop a few times each week or whenever needed in between. Never changed the filter - just emptied out the cleanups.
But - into each life some rain must fall and the two cats my wife wanted brought me mine. When the Vac started blowing out some dirt, this retired engineer said it was about time I now look into things. I never saw so much cat fur surrounding whatever filter they used. Lucky the dust didn't coat the kitchen where I stupidly took off the vac's coveer. Gloves - I needed gloves just to get to the filter. It looked to be foam. Time to install the first new one. Forget the manufacturer - though they made the 500A in year 1 they had no info on anything to do with this great machine. Taking a chance, the foam filter ordered through Amazon came as fast as yesterday!. Only one way to install it - use common sense! End of story: I am now Shop-Vacing all over the place... Buy PanaVise Model 201 "Junior" Miniature Vise

I bought this primarily to hold audio connecters as I solder to them, and it is absolutely ideal for that task. I haven't found a connector that it won't hold firmly, and the heat from the soldering iron doesn't seem to bother the jaws at all. The plastic jaws don't mar the connector surfaces. The vise opens and closes easily and quickly, and can be adjusted to any angle you need.

I mounted this vise on a plastic cutting board that I bought in the kitchen department of a hardware store. Not only does that give a stable base for the vise, but it also gave me a non-stick surface onto which I could splash my solder. I put rubber feet on the bottom of the cutting board, and I can also clamp it to any handy rail or shelf if I don't have a flat surface nearby.

I use this in combination with a soldering workstation that has alligator clips. I use the vise to hold the connector and the clips to hold the wire, leaving my hands free for the iron and the solder. Works like a champ!

Bosch T234X Progressor Wood Blade (5-Pack)

I use these blades in a Bosch 1590EVSK. This combination works well for a wide variety of projects, from precise cuts for small parts to rough carpentry for fence repairs, and even light demolition work in confined spaces (like under a sink). Fein 63502127040 MultiMaster E-Cut Combo Kit for Fein MultiMaster Top Quality

The Fein Multimaster FMM250Q as sold and I purchased from the television commercial is fine. The profile kit tool for sanding trim... I've found to be NO GOOD. The idea of it is great, but design needs improvment. I've tried to use this nine times on trim. The last time attempted the head over heated so bad it melted the plastic clip, the springs fell out and burned my thumb when removing it. I'm talking a short period of time. Less then a minute, Yes, 60 seconds and vertually no pressure. Out of frustration my spouse was ready to throw the whole kit away. Due to the vibration the sandpaper is being cut at the retainer clip. YES, I follwed the directions on how to attach and to use the attachment. So now I have a $50 plus piece of scrap.
I've used the machine for cutting drywall, plaster, soft wood, plastic, very light metal- aluminum. The bi metal blade is very short lived when cutting hard wood, nails or metal lathe. NOT LIKE advertised.
From what I've read is now the Fein company may discontine making the PIN / screw that holes the blades for this model. Get more detail about Fein 63502127040 MultiMaster E-Cut Combo Kit for Fein MultiMaster.

Dremel 670 Mini Saw Attachment This instant

I originally bought this attachment to use in helping my son build his Pinewood derby car for Cub Scouts. This is a great tool so long as:

1) You don't need to cut more than, say, 3/4ths of an inch in length. Forget getting anything longer in anything like a straight line. You can't see where you're cutting, the grip is awkward, and it moves all over the place.

2) You don't need to cut anything more than 1/8th of an inch thick. Even then, expect the ultra-thin blade to bind like crazy.

3) You don't need to cut anything hard. Thin plywood? Pegboard? A dowel? Hard plastic? Don't even think about it. It might cut (partially) through some nice Chinese drywall or wet cardboard. Provided it doesn't bind first.

In short, I can't see a use for this attachment after trying and failing to use it in several different projects. Maybe you'll have better luck, but you should definitely think twice before purchasing it.Get more detail about Dremel 670 Mini Saw Attachment.

Jet JW1031 4-Inch by 10-Feet Black Dust Collection Hose Buy Now

This is fine for connecting to the machines directly, more than flexiable enough if you have them on wheels to move around. For the long runs from the vacuum itself, I used thin wall sewer PVC from Lowes. This is about $8 for 10' length, so half the price of the Jet hose. With smooth walls, it should be better for air flow too. The joint fittings are comparable in price, so even buying the reducer to fit the PVC to the Jet hose, I still saved a lot of money... I needed 3 24' runs of piple for my shop to hook up 8 machines.

Use thin wall PVC sewer pipe for long runs, and get the 4" to 3" inside diameter PVC reducer... it fits perfect inside the Jet hose. Connect this hose to the reducer and the machine and you're in business...Get more detail about Jet JW1031 4-Inch by 10-Feet Black Dust Collection Hose.

Rockwell RW9113 Sonicrafter Scraper Blade Right now

I first tried the scraper on the glue spots on a concrete floor where w/w carpet had been laid, before putting down hardwood. On the really old and dried glue from earlier carpeting, it was great. For the spots where pieces of the rubber padding had adhered, it was OK, lifting off most of the remaining pad, but for the more recent glue spots alone it heated up the glue and made it even stickier. Then I used it to take off caulking where the baseboard was installed and it was terrific - when I tried to take the same stuff off with a chisel, it was very tough. The Sonicrafter made this chore a breeze! It also worked great on removing mirror mastic on a wall. I do agree with the other reviewer about it being aggressive - it will cut into wood or sheetrock quickly if you're not careful.Get more detail about Rockwell RW9113 Sonicrafter Scraper Blade.

Low Price Dremel MM491 Multi-Max MM450/MM440/MM422 Flush Cut Blade Pack

I used the Dremel (Bosch) multimax on a finishing job in a bedroom and two walk-in closets. It made cut-ins under the door casings a dream: no false cuts, no mess, using the new flooring as a leveling guide. When I needed to do some butchery on interior closet walls to straighten bowed 2 x 4 king posts, I removed sections of drywall with the semi-circular drywall cutter: minimum dust, straight cuts, preserving the removed piece of drywall to reposition after the surgery was complete and the wall straightened. To remove old mastic from the flange-sides of access panels, I used the scraper blade: it lifted the old mastic beautifully without gouging or scoring the plastic.

Only problem I encountered was keeping the detent bolt tight: the vibration seemed to shake it loose, especially when used for cutting wood. One must check it frequently for tightness, keeping the Allen wrench at hand.

The replacement cutters are available at Amazon. They seem a bit pricey, but are competitive with other manufacturers' products.Get more detail about Dremel MM491 Multi-Max MM450/MM440/MM422 Flush Cut Blade Pack.

Discount Yukon Tool YTRB24 24-Piece Router Bit Set

This is the type of product I love to review...a supper cost-effective product. I'm an experienced craftsman, but not a finish woodworker, so when I needed to significantly modify my favorite Oak TV cabinet in our living room to make it fit a new wide-screen TV, I had to temporarily enter into the world of routers and router bits. I had several jobs to do: round a four-foot portion of the cabinet edge with a 3/8" roundover bit, flush trim some cuts with a flushtrim bit, mortis out an exposed plywood edge with a mortising bit, cut out holes for cooling fans using a cooling-fan template and a flushtrim bit, cut off the edge of a cabinet door and reshape it with an ogee bit combined with two other bits, and chamfer the edge of a new cabinet partition. I ended up buying a Porter-Cable 7310 trim router Porter-Cable 7310 5.6 Amp 3/4-Horsepower Laminate Trim Router(see separate review) and this set of router bits.

To buy separate top-of-the-line bits could have cost hundreds of dollars...instead I got 24 bits for $[...]...less than 2 bucks a piece...and they worked great! Since I didn't know anything about routing when I started, having a complete set of bits was a great way to understand the large number of tasks that can be accomplished with a router and the types of bits designed for each. I used about eight bits in total. I don't know what separates a good bit from a bad one, probably material quality, perhaps bearings and balance. Here's my experience:

O All the bits seemed perfectly balanced...thus the router (a small trim router) ran smooth and was easy to handle.
O All the bits seemed very sharp and all have carbide cutting edges that did a great job.
O I inadvertently cut through a couple of nails that were hidden below the cabinet surface...no bad effects...the bit just ate the nails with no signs of chipping or dulling of the cutting edge
O The one minor problem I had is that the bearing on my flush cut bit came off (unscrewed) while starting a cut after a couple of days of use...took two days to find the parts on the shop floor. However, I quickly substituted the same size bearing off of another bit in the set. Lesson learned: check the tightness of the bearing screw before using the bearing bits...also nice to have those back-up bits.

Bottom Line...the set was superb for the one-time job that I had...and will probably serve me well into the future. And, it comes in a very nice wood chest. Highly recommended!

Cheap DEWALT DW4890 15-Piece Reciprocating Saw Blade Tough Case Set

Ok, the saw blades, they cut fine, no complaints on them, although I have nothing to compare them to. So, that means the rest of this review is on the packaging. The storage box is nice although it should be longer to fit the long blades which you will eventually buy. Now on to the rant: two of the three large decals on the case I received almost required the saw to remove. They were nearly impossible to remove- even using a hair dryer they still came off in pieces- and then it took several applications of paint thinner with paper towels to remove the adhesive on the case. Do I really need to be told I got 15 blades for the price of 10 three times?Get more detail about DEWALT DW4890 15-Piece Reciprocating Saw Blade Tough Case Set.

Buy Rockler Shelf Jig and 1/4'' Bit Set

I recently used this shelf pin jig to put adjustable shelves into a cupboard I built for a customer out of birch plywood. It works very well, with the following, very small complaint: When used on plywood carcasses, mask the surface you are drilling into. The spring is very aggressive, and if you pull the bit back a little too quick from the jig, it is very prone to slightly chip out the edge of the hole with the bit. Masking the surface should fix this problem. I had to go through and redrill once or twice because wood material kept getting hung in the grooves of the bit, but for the price, it is a solid performer. It's no match for a pin jig using a plunge router and straight upcut bit, but for being so portable, it is wonderful. All that said, I recommend it.Get more detail about Rockler Shelf Jig and 1/4'' Bit Set.

Shop For Bosch TS1003 Table Saw Left Side Support Extension

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R366E58EMMI59N There seem to be plenty of conflicting reviews on both the left side extension and the outfeed extension, and I've made this video to clear them up. Issues cleared up:
- The front bar for the left side extension is short enough to not hit the red lever for the right side extension.
- Both left side extension and outfeed extension come with a stop knob for securing the extensions either open or closed.
- Both extensions sag just a little, which I fixed by placing a washer (approx 0.043 in thick) between the brace and the tablesaw for the _back_ bolt on each bracket. This modification brought it very close to level, for just over $2 in washers at my local big box hardware store.

I do say a few odd words here and there in the video (quarters when I meant washers, etc.) But I'm sure you can figure it out.

Overall review: These were what I expected, fit my 4100 series Bosch worksite table saw, and were easy to install following the included instructions.Get more detail about Bosch TS1003 Table Saw Left Side Support Extension.

Pro-Quality 20-Piece Diamond-Point Bit Set for Rotary Tool - Glass, Stone, Ceramic Review

The first one I used went dull in about 20 seconds. It barely left a mark on the glass I was working with. The next one I used was on soft metal. Very unimpressive. You get what you pay for.
